Which email tracker for Gmail fits your work?
There is no single best email tracker for Gmail. The right one depends on what you send: one important email at a time, a sales pipeline, or a campaign to a list. This page groups six tools by that job, so you can skip the ones built for someone else.
Disclosure: SentCue makes one of the tools on this list. Descriptions of the others are based on each product’s own website, checked between 13 September and 9 October 2026. We do not list their prices or ratings; check them on their sites, because plans change.

SentCue Email Tracking: for one important email at a time
A Chrome extension for Gmail on the web. Sent emails get a small circle: gray while waiting, blue when there is activity. You can set a reminder such as “remind me in 3 days if there is no signal.” There is no account and no Gmail sign-in screen, and history and reminders stay in your browser. It does not do campaigns, link tracking or mobile apps, and it is not meant to. How it works in Gmail.
Mailtrack: tracking suite with mobile apps
Mailtrack by Mailsuite adds open tracking to Gmail and, according to its site, campaigns, mail merge and link activity. Its free plan lists the iOS and Android apps and a promotional signature in sent emails. It works through your Google account with Gmail access. Compare it in detail: SentCue vs Mailtrack.
Streak: a CRM inside Gmail
Streak adds pipelines, deal stages, team email sharing and mail merge to Gmail, with email tracking as part of the package. A fit if you manage deals or hiring from your inbox and want everything in one view.
Yesware: for sales teams
Yesware is sales engagement software for Gmail and Outlook: open, click and attachment tracking, templates, multi-step campaigns and CRM logging. A fit for teams that report activity to a manager or a CRM.
GMass: campaigns from Gmail
GMass sends mass email from Gmail using Google Sheets, with tracking and automatic follow-up stages. A fit for newsletters, outreach and cold email, not for a single client thread.
Mailbutler: more than one mail app
Mailbutler works across Gmail, Outlook and Apple Mail, with tracking, mail merge and shared-inbox tools. It requires an account. A fit if you switch between mail apps and want one tool for all of them.
How to choose in four questions
- Do you send to lists? Then pick a campaign tool like GMass, Yesware or Mailtrack.
- Do you need a CRM? Streak or Yesware.
- Do you track from your phone or from Outlook? Mailtrack for the Gmail mobile apps, Mailbutler or Yesware for Outlook.
- Do you only want to know when to follow up on a few important emails, without giving a tool access to your mailbox? SentCue.
What every tracker has in common
Almost all of these tools detect opens the same way: a tiny image in the email that loads when the message is displayed. That means the same limits apply to every one of them. Image proxies, security scanners and Apple Mail can load the image without a person, and blocked images hide real opens.
Keep in mind. An open signal from any tracker means the image loaded. It does not guarantee that the recipient read the message.
